Hepatitis C Has a Cure — Now Insurers Just Need to Pay for It

Today is World Hepatitis Day. In The Hill newspaper, BIO CEO Jim Greenwood argues that insurers should not be penny-wise and pound-foolish by refusing to cover new miracles cures for hepatitis C, the leading cause of liver cancer and liver transplants in the United States. Instead of coming up with creative ways to deny cures to patients in the name of short-term savings, payers should embrace creative financing solutions so we can solve this public health challenge, heal people immediately, and save the U.S. health care system money in the long run.
