As part of our public education/industry branding campaign, BIO sponsored a special section on biotechnology which ran in The Washington Post on Wednesday, June 24:
The insert provides a general introduction to biotech, emphasizing how biotechnology is helping to heal, feed and fuel the world. We also used the piece to disseminate some of our key messages surrounding biosimilars.
The special section was included in the 713,000 printed copies of the Post distributed in Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland and all of Capital Hill, reaching a potential audience of 1.8 million readers.
The timing of the section is opportune. With Congress in the midst of debating comprehensive health care reform and legislation to establish a biosimilars pathway, it is critical that we communicate the value and importance of biotech innovation to policy makers and public opinion leaders.
As you will notice, several of our companies took advantage of this opportunity to share the story of their companies as well.
