The South Dakota Biotechnology Association has hired Joni Johnson, a renewable fuels industry expert, as the new executive director.

Joni Johnson previously headed up operations for the bioethanol company Poet’s political action committee.
Johnson also is a veteran of many state-wide political campaigns, and she plans to prioritize advocacy at the state and national level for the association’s membership.
“They need to have a voice in critical decisions that impact this industry,” she said. “It’s especially important for our smaller members who don’t have the internal resources to do as much advocacy as they might like or need. This is something we as an association need to do.”

Congratulations on your new position. I hope they know what a fantastic person and outstanding, capable, individual they have just brought aboard their company. We will miss seeing you at POET activities, however we know you will make another Association as successful as you have POET and continue to do so many great things. Maybe we’ll bump into you in SF some day or stop when in Mitchell (who ever comes to Mitchell, right?). Best of luck in all your future endeavors Joni.
