6 Days Until BIO 2015: Spotlight on Industrial & Environmental Biotech

Industrial biotechnology is paving the way for consumers to have access to sustainable products, environmentally friendlier cleaners and greener personal care items. During the 2015 BIO International Convention, attendees will be able to listen in on four astounding breakout sessions that exemplify how this industry is transforming our economy into a sustainable bioeconomy. Our prestigious speakers and panel members will discuss the innovation, the innovators, and the finance required for propelling this industry. So mark your calendars for Tuesday, June 16, 2015 to partake in these unique sessions.

We are excited to kick-off the Industrial & Environmental (I&E) biotech track sessions with Financing Genomes: Turning Transformative Innovation into Market Success at 9:00 a.m. in Room 110AB. Moderator Roger Wyse, Managing Partner of Spruce Capital Partners, will lead a panel of global investors who will discuss the current investment landscape and the challenges industrial biotechnology companies are facing. They will also highlight their own investment tactics and strategies, and identify which industrial biotech projects they see as priorities in 2015.

Then at 10:15 a.m., Kevin Jarrell the CEO of Modular Genetics will moderate Industrial Biotech’s Mighty Microbes Provide Cleaner and Greener Future. Microbial conversion technologies are already being used for developing biofuels, renewable chemicals, vaccines and antibodies, and industrial enzymes. This panel of pioneers in the industrial biotech arena will discuss where we came from and where we are today with the technologies’ abilities to improve how everyday products are made.

In the afternoon at 2:00 p.m., leaders from industrial biotech companies will discuss how they have overcome political and financial uncertainty that have hindered these new technologies and the commercialization of their products in the session Biofuels and Renewable Chemical Business Leaders. Rebecca Coons, Senior Editor of IHS Chemical Week, will lead this discussion.

BIO will close its I&E programming with a panel titled Industrial Biotech’s Global Leaders Generating Innovative Solutions. This panel will discuss the future of the industry, the industry’s manufacturing competitiveness around the globe, and highlight challenges faced by companies as they develop sustainable solutions for a better world. Salim Morsy, Analyst from Bloomberg New Energy Finance, will moderate this last session at 3:30 p.m..
