Tips for Building Your Brand at the 2013 BIO International Convention

Last week’s webinar, Branding at BIO, focused on what to expect for exhibitor booth partnering, cost and time saving tips when dealing with Chicago union labor and how to build your brand at Convention. Exhibitor Booth Partnering

The 2012 BIO International Convention marked the first time exhibitors were able to hold partnering meetings in their booths and truly maximize their time and brand exposure on the Exhibit Floor. With the overwhelming success, 2,900+ companies participated in the partnering system and 700+ of those companies chose to partner in their booths, 2013 looks to be another banner year.

Taking from what we learned last year, the BIO Business Forum and the BIO Exhibition will be located next to each other.  In 2012, of the 4,000+ scheduled meetings in the Exhibit Hall, 87 percent were scheduled with Business Forum participating companies. This model proved especially advantageous for country pavilions as they were able to hold partnering meetings in their booth which helped to highlight emerging life science companies from their respective countries.

In an effort to encourage participants to return, while registering for the 2013 Convention, all past exhibitor booth partnering company information will be pre-populated in the partnering system to allow for a speedier partnering company profile process.

Chicago Labor

We have some good news on the Chicago labor front.  Exhibitors will be able to perform work in their contracted exhibit space regardless of exhibit size (a huge cost saving!).  Union labor will no longer be needed to perform the work of material delivery (the automobile can be no larger than an SUV), materials/signs/props drop off and the operation of non-motorized trucks or dollies.

The Exhibitor Service Kit will have further information about the updated union labor regulations as well as information regarding booth rentals, catering, exhibit freight and registration, housing and travel. The Kit will be available early December and will be emailed directly to exhibitors.

Branding Opportunities

The branding opportunities are turn-key and innovative when it comes to Convention. Networking receptions and customized events are a great way to launch a new brand and build a lasting impression while giving attendees a memorable experience. These events include our targeted networking receptions such as the Global Leaders Reception, Investor Business Development Reception and several more. Additionally, through the BIO Theater and golf outing, we offer companies the ability to customize events.

Another chance to highlight your brand is through sponsorship of educational programming. These Super Sessions, breakout sessions tracks and special programs help align your brand with the best thought-leaders in the industry.

Other branding options include sponsorship of a partnering suite, partnering center or charging station within the BIO Business Forum. Sponsors of the BIO Business Forum receive VIP recognition and are provided with a dedicated Relationship Manager to assist with their partnering activity.

Lastly, for those looking to take advantage of the on-site marketing and branding options, think about featuring your logo in banners and stairwraps located throughout McCormick Place or sponsoring the BIO Bistro (New this year, the BIO Bistro will be a hot food bar located in the BIO Exhibition). And don’t forget about the print and digital advertising opportunities. Our print and digital brochure will go out in February and offers unique and direct visibility in front of 100,000+, our pocket guide or event “bible” will be in the hands of 20,000 once on-site in Chicago and our BIOtechNOW Show Daily is the only official news resource at the Convention.
