2016 Snapshot: BIO Leads with Events that Make a Difference

BIO hosts a number of annual events that provide the industry with networking, partnering, and education opportunities. Perhaps the most well-known event is the annual BIO International Convention which draws over 15,000 attendees from more than 80 countries. But BIO works on other business, partnering, and patient-focused events throughout the year as well. Here’s a look back at four 2016 BIO events that welcomed the exchange of ideas and created an environment for networking, deal-making, and partnering:

  1. The 18th annual BIO CEO & Investor Conference was held on February 8-9 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. This conference is one of the largest investor conferences focused on established and emerging publicly traded and select private biotech companies.   2. The 23rd annual BIO International Convention was held on June 6-9 in San Francisco. This global event brings together biotechnology and pharma leaders for one week of intensive networking to discover new opportunities and promising partnerships. This event covers a wide spectrum of life science and application areas including drug discovery, biomanufacturing, genomics, biofuels, nanotechnology and cell therapy. The 2016 “Imagine” theme called upon biotech’s best and brightest to share not only their daily accomplishments, but also their innovative visions for this industry of endless potential.   3. Also held in San Francisco (October 18-19) was the 15th annual BIO Investor Forum. This international biotech investor conference explores global investment trends and opportunities in life sciences with a focus on early and established private companies as well as emerging public companies. The event features plenary sessions, business roundtables and therapeutic workshops, company presentations, and One-on-One PartneringTM meetings.   4. The 5th annual BIO Patient and Health Advocacy Summit was held just days before the Presidential election on November 3-4 in Washington, D.C. The Summit brings together patient advocacy organizations, academia, regulators, biotechnology industry, and other stakeholders for two days of robust programming to discuss timely policy issues and share best practices. Additionally, the Summit provides an invaluable networking opportunity to advance partnerships among stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem.
