On Friday, February 19th, Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Pat Roberts posted his GMO labeling bill which would block states from introducing their own labeling laws.
The bill would also require the Agriculture Department to set national standards for voluntarily labeling of food and foods containing bioengineered (bill defines the term bioengineered) ingredients.
Further, it requires USDA and the Health and Human Services Department to survey consumer knowledge about Ag Biotech to determine whether consumers have access to information about genetically engineered products; the results of the study would be due in four years.
AgriPulse covers the Roberts’ Bill more in depth here.

Lastly, in case you missed it, the Corn Refiners Association (CRA) recently released a study that found that the Vermont law could increase the price of groceries by nearly $1,050 per family per year. More information on the study can be found here.
BIO encourages you to take a moment right now to send a message to both of your senators and urge them to support a national, uniform GMO labeling standard that is based on science.
