With Thanksgiving right around the corner, you’re probably starting to think about some of your favorite dishes. In the spirit of giving thanks, we’d like to shine a light on what makes many of our favorite holiday meals possible: honey bees.
You probably know that honey bees play an important role in agriculture, but did you know just how many of our Thanksgiving favorites depend on honey bee pollination? Without honey bee pollination, we wouldn’t have apples for apple pie, cranberries for cranberry sauce, or string beans for string bean casserole.
Here at BIO we recognize when to support other organizations doing important work to protect bees. So support the Bee Informed Partnership, a non-profit organization that works directly with beekeepers around the country to improve the health of their bees. They’re making a serious impact, but they need help to expand their programs and reach more beekeepers. Visit their crowd-funding site to learn more and donate today: http://igg.me/at/beetechteams
Let’s protect honey bees and keep Thanksgiving meal on the table!
