Casting Call for “Rare Disease Chasers” – A New Reality TV Series

Are you a medical expert who works on finding, diagnosing and treating people with rare diseases? Are you interested in starring on a reality TV series?

The executive management of the Global Healthy Living Foundation launched a nation-wide search for physicians, researchers and other medical experts who may be interested in starring in a show called “Rare Disease Chasers” on The Learning Channel (TLC) network.

The series will follow a team of medical experts each week as they meet patients who present themselves with complicated rare diseases that can be diagnosed and treated with diligence, creativity and the use of cutting edge/innovative medication. The goal of the show is to showcase the extraordinary efforts made by patients and their families to receive a diagnosis and treatment, while showcasing the sophistication of today’s medical experts and their approach to the process.

Experts and companies interested in participating should make a short video introducing themselves and why they should be considered a “Rare Disease Chaser.” The video should be less than 5 minutes, preferably shot with a computer webcam or flip camera, and will be used internally by the producers to help identify the team.

Initial outreach is limited to the professionals (physician, physician assistant, office administrator, pharmaceutical medical science liaison and others) who work with rare disease patients. The medical experts need to be dynamic, telegenic (look and feel comfortable on camera), with personality and charisma.
