Public Opinion: What do voters think about biotechnology?

The majority of voters recognize the important work being conducted at biotech companies and place a high value on the industry’s contributions.

After only a brief neutral description of the biotechnology industry, 87% of those polled have a favorable image of the biotech industry.

More than three-quarters of Americans surveyed are convinced that biotech is working every day on curing diseases such as Alzheimer’s, cancer, diabetes and Parinson’s. Furthermore, they believe that these cures will eventually help patients, cut federal health care spending and save the American budget trillions of dollars.
