Flight Flies on 100 Percent Biofuels
This week saw the first-ever completely biofuel-powered flight take place. The National Research Council of Canada conducted the first flight on 100 percent renewable, drop-in biofuel on its Falcon 20 jet, according to oilprice.com, marking a huge milestone for the aviation and renewable energy industries. The Great Green Fleet
Last week the U.S. Navy took part in the 22-nation Pacific Rim training exercises off the coast of Hawaii. Different for the U.S. Navy in this year’s exercise was the fact that its warships and fighter jets were powered by a 50-50 blend of biofuel and petroleum-based fuels. The Navy’s Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron flew on a 50-50 blend of aviation biofuels during the Naval Air Station Patuxent River’s 2011 Air Expo over the Labor Day Weekend. Aviation Industry an Enormous Growth Challenge for Biofuels
To meet the demand for sustainable aviation biofuels with algae, the industry would have to build a new plant every month for the next 20 to 30 years, Biojet Corp.
