For 2021, the BIO International Convention will be held virtually as BIO Digital, June 10-11 & 14-18. We are currently planning a virtual format that will deliver five days of BIO One-on-One Partnering with 24-hour global time zone availability for business development networking along with expert-level educational content focused on the most pressing industry topics including COVID-19, Infectious Diseases, Oncology, Business Development, Financing Trends, Cell and Gene Therapy, Digital Health, and more. There will be a variety of panels across six days, mixing live and on-demand sessions, as well as presentations in the Innovation Stage.
50+ interactive and on-demand sessions across six days covering a variety of therapeutic areas, business development, digital health, patient advocacy, public policy, and next generation biotherapeutics, and the latest updates from industry experts on COVID-19 and the vaccine.
Yes, consider if your original topic idea will still be relevant to a virtual session in June. The BIO Programs team will be contacting those session organizers and speakers with accepted sessions as BIO continues to explore options for a virtual education event and will be in contact with those session organizers and speakers with more details as soon as they are available.
All available sessions and educational events will be available to all registrants. You will not need to sign up specifically for a session in order to attend. For a live-streamed event, RSVPs may be requested.
We are planning a mix of live and pre-recorded content as well as set of tools for interacting with speakers for Q&A. All sessions will remain available on demand for at least 30 days after the start of the event.
Yes, BIO’s platform allows a rich experience to ask questions through a live text chat. More details to come as we get closer to the event!

This year, we are offering extended access to new programming ahead of BIO Digital week. This early access programming will feature the new Innovation Stage where you can meet international and domestic companies live to discuss their pipelines, business partnerships, and policy. Additional dates will also allow you to view company presentations on-demand before the event to prepare for your week of partnering at BIO Digital 2021, June 10-11 & 14-18.
BIO believes in the power of this industry to find a successful solution to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is critical to provide the business partnering opportunities your company needs to thrive. In an abundance of safety and caution, BIO will be hosting the event virtually for 2021, returning to an in-person event in San Diego, June 13-16, 2022.
BIO is the global convener of the biotech industry and the only global biotech trade association that BIO hosts events at the intersection of science, business, and policy. Attending BIO Digital 2021 provides you the world’s largest stage to showcase your company’s brand, connect with promising partners, and learn about solutions for current challenges facing the industry.
BIO will not be hosting an external call for sessions but will continue to work with the BIO Digital Program Advisory Committee to develop cutting-edge, thought-provoking education content at the intersection of science, business and policy that are must-see and diverse.
BIO’s Previous Presentation/Publication and Confidentiality Policies will remain in effect since abstracts will still be presented. The convention itself will be open to qualified media with “on the record” educational panel sessions, however.
You should contact the BIO International Convention team at firstname.lastname@example.org and after verification from the BIO Membership department, the proper adjustment will be made to your record and a credit card refund will be issued.
Registration is scheduled to open in March 2021. In the meantime, subscribe to receive email alerts and visit our registration page to learn about the features include in the BIO Digital 2021 registrations.
When registering you can only pay by credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express). Check and wire transfer are not accepted methods of payment.
- Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing on or before Thursday, May 27, 2021 to receive a partial refund.
- A $200 administrative fee will be deducted from all cancellation refunds.
- Approved refunds will be processed after the conference. BIO regrets that refunds will not be given for no-shows / non-participants.
- Cancellation requests received after May 27, 2021 will not be honored. Email cancellations requests to email@example.com.
- Substitution requests must be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday, May 27, 2021. Due to the digital nature of the program, we will not accept substitutions after May 27, 2021.
Virtual Partnering is the BIO One-on-One Partnering™ system with enhanced features that allow you to arrange partnering meetings virtually. With Virtual Partnering, you can schedule meetings during 5 full days of partnering from June 14-18, 2021, view your partnering calendar in your own time zone, and enjoy automatically provided virtual meeting links for your scheduled meetings.
For access to BIO One-on-One Partnering™, you must register for the "BIO All Access" package. The BIO One-on-One Partnering system will open in late April. After the system opens, you can expect to receive your partnering login information and access to the system within 1-2 business days of your completed registration. Be sure to add email@example.com to your safe senders list to receive your login credentials.
You can expect to find senior biotech executives and business development leaders from hundreds of leading companies around the globe participating in Virtual Partnering. BIO Digital 2020 conducted 26,800+ partnering meetings between delegates from 3,260+ companies and 64 countries.
Attendees will still search for partners and request meetings using BIO One-on-One Partnering. Instead of those meetings occurring in person, attendees can schedule their meetings using BIO's virtual meeting links, or specify their own virtual meeting links.
The BIO One-On-One Partnering™ system makes connections on a company-to-company basis. Delegates’ accounts will be placed under a company profile with their colleagues as they register for the conference. After filling out their company and delegate profiles and setting their calendar availability for meetings, delegates search for and send meeting requests to other companies of interest and accept incoming meeting requests as appropriate.
Once a meeting request is accepted, delegates from either company can schedule the meeting or allow the partnering system to schedule the meeting automatically. Delegates can also choose to use virtual meeting links provided by BIO, or specify their own virtual meeting link.
New this year, delegates can choose to have BIO-provide meeting links for their scheduled meetings, or specify their own virtual meeting link. BIO's virtual meeting links are unique to each meeting, providing enhanced security.
Each company profile is allowed 150 outstanding outgoing meeting requests. Once a meeting request is accepted, declined, or cancelled, it no longer counts against that limit.
We've added new tags to our powerful search function that will allow you to quickly identify companies working on the COVID-19 pandemic in these areas: Biotech or pharma, therapeutic R&D, CMO, CRO, Digital health, Institute, hospital research, IT, information, Medical device or technology and more.

This program will give attendees the unique opportunity to hear from an exciting group of global companies via fast-paced pitches. Sessions and events in the Global Marketplace will take place in the Innovation Stage on Thursday, June 10 and Friday, June 11 ahead of BIO Digital week. Scheduled times will be determined in April 2021. Participants are provided the unique opportunity to engage with the leading biotech companies and identify prospects to connect with from around the world during BIO Digital Week.

For 2021, BIO will not be holding a call for session proposals. Instead, BIO’s program committee will curate a robust education program featuring leading experts on BIO’s digital event platform. BIO offers unique ways for start-ups to engage. Start-ups are encouraged to apply to participate inStart-Up Stadium at BIO Digital. This program is designed to provide start-up companies with the opportunity to engage with key members of the investment community, venture philanthropy groups, strategic partners, and non-dilutive capital at the world’s largest biotechnology event.
The Solutions Exchange Package provides the best opportunity for bioprocess, service providers CROs/CMOs to showcase their company's brand, help them identify new partners and strengthen their business connections. Learn more about how to get involved here.
Company Presentations are 15-minute presentations given by senior-level executives. They showcase a company’s pipeline, R&D activities, business objectives and investment goals. For BIO Digital, the presentations are on demand, pre-recorded videos hosted in the Virtual Event page.
BIO Digital will feature presentations across the stages of biotech. Those interested in presenting must have a clear R&D focus, with a pipeline involving biotechnology applied to improving human health via prescription therapeutics, vaccines, diagnostics, and digital health offerings; or biotechnology applied to drive food & farm innovation, biobased manufacturing, or the utilization of cleaner energy. Presentations are also accepted from grant-giving funders of such innovations, including patient advocacy groups. Service providers not themselves creating the regulated end-use products listed above will not be considered for company presentations but should email our Sponsorship Team to discuss alternative ways to highlight your initiatives with a dedicated team member. All applications submitted will be reviewed and appropriate companies will be approved to present.

The deadline to submit an application is May 26.
Company Presentations will be hosted on the Virtual Event Platform. The presentations will be available to all registered attendees. There will be three levels of registration, including a free registration level which provides access only to the on-demand presentations. You can find more information about registration here.
